The $4 taco truck line beat the $9 sit-down place again
Last Tuesday I stood outside El Fuego in Austin for 25 minutes in the drizzle because their al pastor plate runs $7.50 with rice and beans, while the new diner on 6th Street charges $9 for a soggy burrito bowl that took 15 minutes to hit the table. I picked the truck on a budget whim and honestly the tortillas were still warm and the salsa had actual heat, the diner's was basically ketchup water. Anyone else find that the cheaper spot wins more often when you factor in wait time and portion size, or am I just getting lucky?

Reminds me of this taco joint back home that ran out of carnitas one night, so the guy behind the counter just handed me a free horchata and told me to try the chicken instead. That chicken was so juicy I forgot what I originally ordered. Place closed two years later but I still dream about that cup of rice water.
