The $7 burrito cart near my office beats the $14 sit down spot and everyone at work thinks I'm crazy
Everyone in my office keeps saying you have to pay at least $13 or $14 for a decent lunch downtown, but the cart on 5th and Main gives you a fat chicken burrito for $7 with free extra salsa. I've eaten there 3 times a week for 2 months and never once felt like I got less food or flavor than the fancy place two blocks over. Am I missing something about why people still drop double for the same thing in a nicer room, or do folks just not wanna eat standing up?
Walked into the same trap at my last office, everyone swore the sandwich place on the corner was the only "real" lunch option at $15. Meanwhile there was a taco truck parked two blocks away doing three al pastor tacos for $6 and they loaded them up. I ate there probably 40 times and never got sick of it, and the meat was honestly better than the sit down place. I think people just feel weird being the one standing on a sidewalk eating off a paper plate while their coworkers sit in a booth. But once you stop caring about that, your wallet starts feeling a lot heavier by Friday.
