The taco truck guy in Dallas who made me eat my words about cheap food

Went to this spot off Singleton Blvd around 6pm last Tuesday. Line was long, $3.50 for a pastor taco. I laughed at the price. Told the guy running the truck, "For that much it better last." He just looked at me and said, "It will. You'll be back tomorrow." One bite in and I got it. Charred edges, fresh pineapple, homemade salsa. Drove back the next day. He just nodded when he saw me. Anyone else got a vendor who called their shot like that?

That $3.50 price point is their whole game. I got burned the same way at a spot on Fort Worth Ave, laughed at the sign, then the guy behind the counter just pointed at the trash can full of napkins. Three days in a row after that. The trick is they don't upcharge for the good stuff, they put the work into the marinade so you keep coming back. Now I just order double and skip lunch the next day.
