Can we talk about the self checkout yelling at me for using my own bags

I was at the Walmart on Route 9 last night buying some cat food and a six pack of soda. This machine kept screaming at me that my bag was in the bagging area when it was clearly not. I had to wait for a teenager to come over and swipe his card like 4 times before it let me pay. I learned that these machines are designed to make you feel like a criminal for trying to be efficient. Has anyone else just given up and started using the regular line again?

Same here, mine at Stop & Shop practically accused me of stealing last week.

Man, I feel that. The Stop & Shop ones near me actually have a voice that sounds like it's judging you. Last week I put my reusable bag down and it screamed "UNEXPECTED ITEM" and I nearly jumped out of my skin. I swear they're programmed to make you feel guilty for bringing your own stuff.
