Finally stopped bagging produce after watching a cashier weigh my single apple with the twist tie on
Used to insist every lemon and pepper had its own plastic bag, but six months ago at Kroger the cashier Tim pointed out that twist ties add like half a gram and now I just toss everything loose on the belt, anyone else drop the bag habit for a specific reason?

Did Tim ever tell you it's actually a thing where the twist ties can throw off the weight on those little scales? I had no idea until a friend who used to work at a grocery store mentioned it, and it blew my mind. Now I do the same thing, just toss everything loose and let them sort it out. It saves so much plastic and I feel a little less guilty about my weekly apple addiction. Plus the cashiers seem happier not having to undo fifty tiny knots.

Wait was Tim actually the one who clued you in @schmidt.grace? I had a cashier once tell me they don't even bother weighing the twist ties on purpose because it's not worth the hassle... but I still can't shake the habit of bagging mushrooms because they look so sad rolling around loose on the belt.
