I finally bought one of those reusable produce bags for $12 and it was a total waste

I saw them at the front of the grocery store and grabbed a pack of three. Used them for my apples and peppers last week. They got so heavy and wet from the fruit that the handles ripped right off before I even got to my car. Now I'm back to using the plastic ones from the roll. Has anyone found a brand of these that doesn't fall apart after one trip?

@the_james has a point about things being built to fail these days. I used one of those mesh bags for oranges and the whole bottom gave out in the parking lot, just oranges rolling everywhere. At this point I'm thinking about just reusing the plastic ones from the store and calling it a day.

That reminds me of the time I tried those mesh laundry bags for delicates. The zipper broke on the first wash, and my favorite socks vanished into the machine's abyss (probably still in there somewhere). Sometimes the "eco-friendly" stuff feels like it's made of hopes and prayers instead of actual fabric. Ended up just using a pillowcase with a rubber band, which worked way better.

My $15 set from the farmers market did the same thing, just dissolved into a wet mess. I feel your pain. @the_james is right, a lot of this stuff is built to fail, which is the opposite of eco-friendly. I've had better luck with the canvas ones, but they cost a fortune.
