I used to just grab whatever avocado felt slightly soft now I spend 5 minutes picking one
At the Safeway on 3rd Ave last week I was standing there poking avocados like a weirdo while the line behind me got longer. Somewhere around 2019 I watched a YouTube video about the stem trick and now I can't just grab one without checking inside the little cap thing first. Is anyone else trapped in this endless avocado inspection ritual or is it just me?

Three minutes? Try standing in the Whole Foods on Broadway for a solid ten while a woman behind me audibly sighs every time I pick one up and put it back. I saw that same stem trick video and now I peel the little nub off on three different avocados before I commit, and the look I got from the produce guy last Tuesday made me question my whole life. He just stared at me with this flat expression while I held up an avocado with a tiny hole in it like I was examining a crime scene. The worst part is when the stem comes off and it's all brown underneath but you already made eye contact with three other shoppers.
