Just realized self-checkout is faster when I skip the bagging scale drama

I was in line at the Meijer on 42nd Street last Tuesday, watching a guy fight with the scale over a pack of romaine, and I switched to a basket with no bags. Every item scanned clean, zero errors, and I was out in 4 minutes flat. Why do we keep insisting on the bagging zone when the dumb scale just makes us wait longer?
