Pushed my cart with one hand and grabbed my wallet with the other, saved 3 minutes

I used to have to set down my cart when I got to the register, dig through my bag for my wallet, and hold up the whole line. Last week at the grocery store, I started keeping my wallet in my front pocket with just my card sticking out, and I can pay while still rolling the cart forward. Anybody else got a weird checkout trick that shaves off a few seconds?

Is it really that serious though? Like we're talking about maybe a 10 second difference here. I mean yeah I keep my debit card in my back pocket but I'm not timing my grocery run like it's a race. The real time saver is just going to self checkout or doing the scan as you go thing if your store has it.

Next you'll tell me we don't need to optimize our sock drawer because putting them on takes 10 seconds each morning. The self checkout line is a gamble, sometimes it's faster, sometimes you're waiting behind someone who's never seen a barcode scanner before. If I wanted my grocery trip to feel like a side quest I'd just go thrift shopping instead.
