Ran into my old math teacher at the grocery store checkout last night

I was standing in line at the Safeway on 3rd Ave around 7pm, holding a bag of chips and some milk, when I saw Mrs. Patterson from my 10th grade algebra class three years ago. She actually recognized me and said she was glad I stopped skipping her class to play video games in the library. Has anyone ever had an old teacher remember something about you that you hoped they forgot?

Hate when that happens, it's like they've got a secret file on you from high school. At least she was nice about it though, could've been way more awkward.

Isn't it funny how our past selves just keep showing up in random moments like that? It's like the universe reminds you of who you used to be right when you think you've changed. Teachers especially hold onto these little snapshots of us from years ago. I guess that's the thing about people who see us every day for a whole school year. They remember the small stuff because it was their whole job to pay attention to us.
