Standing in this line, I'm sure express lanes are a scam

They promise quick service but always end up slower than regular lanes.

Last week at Walmart, I was in the 15-items-or-less line. I used to believe express lanes saved time because fewer items should mean quicker checkouts. But this time, the person in front of me had a coupon issue that took forever to fix. We all stood there while the normal lanes kept moving smoothly. That thing completely changed my mind. Now I avoid express lanes unless they're totally empty!

Find express lanes are still my go-to at the grocery store. @the_harper that coupon situation sounds rough, but my strategy is to scan the cart of the person in front of me. If I see a ton of coupons or pricey organic stuff, I switch lanes. Most times with just a few items, I'm in and out way faster than the folks with full carts.
