That cashier told me to check my spare tire and it saved me 60 bucks on a tow truck
I was standing in line at the H-E-B on 7th Street last Tuesday, just zoning out looking at the candy bars, when the cashier, this older guy named Frank, saw me loading up canned goods and said, "Hey man, your back tire looks a little low." I honestly thought he was just making small talk or trying to sell me something, you know? But I walked out and sure enough, the spare was basically flat and the main tire had a slow leak from a nail. I air it up at the gas station and drove straight to Discount Tire, where they patched it for free instead of me having to call AAA later. If he hadn't said anything, I'd probably be stuck on I-35 after dark with no reception. Has anyone else had a store employee notice something like that before you even realized it was a problem?

Was the spare just completely flat or was it one of those donut spares that's always kind of questionable? Makes me wonder how many people walk right past obvious car trouble without thinking about it because they're wrapped up in getting groceries.

Feel for you man, that's a solid save. Frank probably looks out for his regulars without even thinking twice.
