That chat with the cashier about freezing bread changed my whole morning

I was standing in line at the grocery store yesterday morning, waiting to pay for my stuff. The cashier was this older woman, probably in her 60s, and she noticed I had a loaf of artisan bread in my cart. She asked if I was gonna eat it all before it went stale, and I laughed and said probably not. Then she told me she freezes her bread the second she gets home, just pops it straight in the freezer in the bag. I always thought freezing bread ruined the texture, you know? But she insisted it stays fresh for weeks if you toast it straight from frozen. I tried it last night with a slice from a different loaf I had sitting out, and honestly it was fine. Has anyone else had a cashier or stranger just drop some random life advice on you like that, something so simple it made you rethink how you do things?

That part about freezing bread ruining the texture is exactly what I always thought too. I had a nurse at my doctors office tell me the same thing about bagels, just toss them in the freezer and toast them whenever you want. I tried it with a cinnamon raisin bagel last week and it was honestly better than when I let them sit out for days and they get all tough. Its wild how the simplest tips from strangers can totally change your routine.

That cashier unlocked a hidden life hack for real. I had a random guy at the bus stop tell me to freeze my ginger root whole and just grate it frozen - changed my whole cooking game.
