That random stranger's comment about my cart made me rethink impulse buys

I was standing in line at the Target on Broadway last month and some older guy behind me just goes 'you know, half that stuff you'll end up throwing away'. I looked down and realized I had like 3 bags of random snack boxes and a little gadget set I saw on display. It really made me think about how much of my cart is stuff I just grabbed because it looked fun in the moment. Has anyone else had a stranger's offhand comment actually stick with you and change how you shop?

Flip it around - maybe that stranger was really talking to himself. Most people who say stuff like that are just trying to justify their own spending habits out loud.
