The old guy at the hardware store told me to count my pennies, he wasn't wrong about checkout lines
I was waiting in line at the plumbing supply place last Tuesday, grumbling about the slow cashier, and this retired contractor behind me just said 'pay attention to what's in your cart, not the line.' I figured he was cranky, but then I realized I had grabbed two different sizes of PVC fittings without noticing, so I'd have to come back anyway. The line moved in 4 minutes, but fixing my cart mistake would've cost me a 20 minute round trip. Now I actually eyeball my basket while I wait, and it's saved me twice already this month. Has anyone else gotten good advice from random strangers in line that actually stuck?
