The self-checkout scale flagged my onions twice, so I gave up and paid double

Last week at the Kroger on 5th, I tried to weigh a bag of onions on the self-checkout scale and it kept screaming at me for movement. After the second restart I just punched in the code for a bigger bag and paid $4.30 instead of the $2.10 it should've been. It got me thinking how much faster those machines are when you stop fighting them and just accept the glitch. Anyone else just eat the extra cost to get out of line quicker, or do you call a cashier over every time?

Man, that machine basically scammed you and you just took it like a champ. Honestly, at this point the self-checkout is just a donation box with a screen. I swear those scales have a personal vendetta against produce, especially anything round. I’d rather overpay by two bucks than stand there feeling like a criminal while some teenager sighs and walks over to reset it. Plus, you’re basically paying for the privilege of doing their job, so might as well tip the robot, right?

Huh, I used to be the person who always called the cashier over for stuff like this, but you've got a point. At some point my time is worth more than the two bucks I'm fighting over, especially when there's a line building behind me. Now I just punch in whatever the machine wants and move on, it's not worth the headache.
