Took me 3 trips and 40 minutes to figure out my debit card kept getting declined at Aldi
So last week I'm standing in the Aldi line on a Saturday morning with a full cart and my card keeps getting declined. I figured it was a glitch so I tried it 4 more times while the cashier just stared at me, then I had to step aside and call my bank in the parking lot. Turns out my card had a $500 daily limit I forgot about after buying tires that morning, which took me 40 minutes on hold to figure out. Back when I was a kid my mom just wrote a check and nobody blinked, now we all stand there swiping and praying. Does anyone else miss when you could just hand over cash and be done with it?
Did you know banks can freeze your card for the dumbest reasons? I used to roll my eyes at people who carried cash. Felt old school and kinda silly to me. Then my card got flagged twice in one month for "unusual activity" which was just me buying groceries and gas like always. Standing at the register with a line behind me while my card got shut off changed my mind fast. Now I keep a few twenties in my wallet and it has saved me more than once. Cash just works and nobody has to call anybody.
