Wasted $27 on a store loyalty app that only works if you scan before bagging
I signed up for the grocery store's phone app last month thinking I'd save on my weekly run. It turns out the digital coupons only apply if you scan the barcode in the app before the cashier starts bagging, and nobody warns you about that. I stood in line at the Safeway on Villa Lane for 12 minutes while the clerk tried to fix it, and the manager just shrugged. My total came to $94 and I got zero of the $27 in discounts I thought I'd earned. Now I keep a paper list in my pocket and skip the app entirely. Has anyone figured out the actual order you have to scan things in? I am not doing that again without a plan.
