Lost $200 on a cheap mandoline that warped after 3 weeks
I bought this no-name mandoline off Amazon for $40 back in February, thinking it was a steal. After about 20 uses slicing potatoes and beets, the plastic frame actually bent in the middle from the heat and pressure. I tried to return it but the seller was gone, so I was out the cash and had to toss it. Anyone else had luck with a specific brand that doesn't break the bank but actually holds up?

Ever try the OXO one? I figure if I'm gonna slice a finger off anyway, it might as well be on something that lasts more than a month.

That "something that lasts more than a month" part is KEY because my last three cheap ones all broke right after the return window.

My $12 mandoline from the grocery store lasted like three years before the blade finally gave out though... maybe I just got lucky or something. What exactly keeps breaking on yours? I feel like unless you're going through a hundred pounds of potatoes a week a cheap one should hold up fine for occasional use.
