Rant: Dropped $250 on a shaved truffle gadget that I've used exactly twice

Saw this fancy little mandoline thing online that claims to shave black truffles paper thin... figured it would elevate my plating game. First time using it, the truffle slipped and I nearly took off the tip of my thumb. Second time, the blade just gave up and started tearing the truffle instead of slicing it. Now it's sitting in my drawer collecting dust. Anyone else fall for kitchen gadgets that look good on Instagram but fail in reality?
