That $12 microplane I bought on a whim changed how I prep garlic forever

I thought it was just a gimmick until I timed myself mincing 4 cloves with a knife versus grating them with the microplane and the microplane won by 90 seconds plus way less mess, anyone else have a tool they swore was useless and then couldn't live without?

Hold on, are we really acting like chopping garlic is this huge life struggle that needs a specialized tool? I get that it saves 90 seconds but that's basically the time it takes to breathe twice. Plus now you have this weird little cheese grater thing taking up drawer space and you gotta scrub garlic paste out of a million tiny holes. A knife works fine and you can use it for like everything else in the kitchen. Not saying it's bad but calling it life changing feels like a stretch when you could just get better with a knife in a week.
