Took me 2 hours to figure out my induction burner was on the wrong setting

I was trying to sear a ribeye and it just would not get hot. Cooked for 10 minutes and it was barely brown. Messed with the pan, thought my oil was bad, even pulled out an instant read thermometer. Turns out the burner was in some 'simmer' mode instead of full power. Felt like an idiot but that steak still came out okay. Anyone else waste time fighting their own gear before just reading the manual?

Haha oh man, I feel this in my bones. I once spent 20 minutes trying to figure out why my oven wouldn't preheat past 250 degrees. Changed the battery in the thermometer, checked the gas line, the whole nine yards. Turns out I had it set to "warm" mode instead of bake. At least your steak turned out good. Mine was a sad, cold pizza.
