Vent: dropped a full sheet tray of seared scallops at table 12 on a Friday
I was running the fish station at a spot in Seattle and we had a party of 14 order the scallop special all at once. I had 14 scallops resting on a sheet tray, turned to grab a pan, and the whole tray slid off the counter and hit the floor. I yelled for the chef, we had exactly 6 scallops left in the walk-in, so I split them and topped the rest with crispy leeks and a citrus beurre blanc to hide the short count. Nobody at the table noticed but the chef pulled me aside after service and said 'you bought yourself one save, don't make it a habit.' Has anyone else had to MacGyver their way out of a short count mid-service?
