Can we talk about how I stopped brushing flues by feel and started counting rods instead
I used to just eyeball how far my brush went up a flue, and I got burned on a two story colonial off Maple Street in Dayton last month when I missed about 3 feet of glazed creosote near the cap. A 30 year sweep named Ray told me to count rod sections and mark the last one with tape so I know exactly where the brush is sitting. I tried it on 6 jobs this week and found buildup I would have sworn was clean, so I'm sold on the tape trick now. Anybody else mark their rods, or do you run a camera instead?
