Had my best Tuesday in 8 years - cleared 4 flues before lunch and found a raccoon family in the third one
I got called to a house in Oak Park where the owner swore her chimney was fine, and when I popped the cap off that third job I saw two baby raccoons huddled up on the smoke shelf, so I called the wildlife guy and he took them out, then I still finished all 4 flues by 1pm - anyone else ever find something wild living in a flue?

Beat that Tuesday by finding a whole family making themselves at home in my own chimney once - thought I was getting haunted till I heard the scratching.

Oh man, people get WAY too worked up about raccoons in chimneys. Like yeah it's a minor inconvenience, but you acted like you found a family of bears in there. Wildlife guy? Really? Most of the time those little guys just climb out on their own if you wait a day or two. I get that you had a good day at work and all, but calling it your "best Tuesday in 8 years" feels like a stretch. Raccoons in a flue is pretty standard stuff for chimney work, not some crazy discovery.
