Heard a homeowner say wire brushes are a scam, had to bite my tongue

I was cleaning out a 40-year-old chimney last Thursday in Tacoma and the owner stood there telling me that a rotary brush does the same job for half the price. Sure, my steel wire brush cost $68 and the rotary bit is cheaper, but I have yet to see a rotary head scrape off 3 inches of baked creosote without catching sparks. Anyone else run into customers who think the cheap tool replaces the messy manual work?

Nah, rotary bits can't touch the baked-on stuff without a real fire risk.
