Hit 1,200 cleanings this month and found something weird

I just passed 1,200 chimney cleanings for the year and started noticing more houses with hidden creosote buildup behind the damper. Has anyone else run into this on older homes around here?

My 900th one this year had a foot of creosote hidden behind an old cast iron damper, totally invisible from the bottom.
