Honestly, this job in Boulder on Tuesday was the worst. The homeowner insisted his flue was 'basically clean' because he burns 'good wood'. Ngl, I pulled out a solid 6-inch thick creosote plug that was a total fire hazard. He watched me do it and still argued the price.

Know exactly what you mean. I see that all the time with people who think they know better than a pro. Watched a guy argue about a cracked heat exchanger last month while his carbon monoxide alarm was beeping in the next room. They just dig their heels in even when you show them the danger. Good on you for getting that plug out, no matter what he said.

Tbh, that's the exact kind of thinking that causes chimney fires. Good wood doesn't mean no creosote, it just means less of it. The build-up depends on how you burn it, like the temperature and moisture. A six inch plug is crazy dangerous, you definitely saved him from a house fire. Honestly, some people just can't admit they were wrong even when the proof is right in front of them.
