My favorite brush snapped in half mid sweep yesterday

I was cleaning out a flue at a house on Elm Street, about halfway through the job, and my go-to poly brush just cracked right at the handle joint. This was a brush I've had for maybe 4 years, used it on hundreds of jobs without a problem. The customer was watching me from the living room, so I had to play it cool and finish with an old backup I keep in the truck. Has anyone else had a favorite tool give out on them at the worst possible time?

...and that's why I always keep a ratty old brush in the truck too, even if it sheds bristles like a golden retriever in summer. My favorite paintbrush gave up mid trim on a living room ceiling once, I was using it to cut in around the crown molding and the ferrule just broke clean off the handle. Customer was sitting right there on the couch, I had to finish the whole line with a 2 inch chip brush from the dollar store, looked like a drunk toddler did the edging. Worst part was that brush had the perfect tip for tight corners, still haven't found one that works the same.

Man @grant826 how long did it take you to finally toss that broken brush or are you still holding onto it like a trophy? I've got a few casualties sitting in my bucket right now waiting for a miracle fix.
