Noticed a big change in how soot builds up on stainless liners after switching to dry wood

I used to go back to jobs I did a year earlier and the soot was always this greasy, sticky mess. Past 6 months I started recommending only wood that's been seasoned at least 18 months. Now when I sweep those same houses, the soot is dry and powdery. Falls right out. Has anyone else seen their sweep jobs get easier just from telling people to stack their wood better?

Isn't that the truth? I started telling my customers the same thing about two years ago after I got tired of fighting with wet wood. The difference is night and day. I remember one job where the soot was almost like tar, took me forever to scrape it out. Now I get calls back from people who listened to me and I can sweep their whole system in half the time because that powder just dumps right into the bag.

Man, I hear you on that. That tar-like soot is a nightmare, I've seen it turn a quick job into an all-afternoon slog. It's good when people actually take the advice and you can see the difference in the work.
