Pro tip: I swapped my old drop cloth for a zippered containment bag after a job in Spokane

The homeowner's white sofa was ten feet from the hearth, and my old method just wasn't cutting it. Anyone else made a switch like that after a specific scare?

Ten feet from the hearth is way too close for comfort. That white sofa would give me nightmares for a week. The zippered bag is a total game changer for a situation like that.

Okay but ten feet is a huge distance. My couch is maybe eight feet from our wood stove and it's never been an issue. The heat spreads out so much that close is actually cozy. A white sofa near a fire sounds stressful for sure, but that's more about the color than the distance.

Does anyone actually own a white sofa and a fire at the same time without having a backup plan for the apocalypse? I mean, nancy820 might be right that eight feet is cozy, but I'd need a full hazmat suit and a carwash nearby just to feel safe. My old drop cloth started looking like a Jackson Pollock painting after one bad spark, so the zippered bag became my new best friend. Honestly, a white sofa ten feet from a fireplace is just asking for a story to tell at parties.

You know, it's funny how one bad scare with a white sofa makes you rethink everything. I swear half of life's upgrades come from that split second where you go "oh no" and suddenly the old way just doesn't cut it anymore.
