Showerthought: I was way too rough on my brush rods for 5 years
I used to think you had to really muscle those brush rods through a flue to get a good clean. Last month in Akron, I watched a guy named Dave spend 10 minutes just guiding his rods with barely any pressure and his results looked better than mine ever did. He told me to let the weight of the rods do the work and it finally clicked. Anyone else ever get humbled by watching a pro take it easy?

Man, I gotta disagree a little. I've tried the light touch approach and ended up with chunks of soot still caked in there, had to run the whole thing again with some real elbow grease to break it loose.
