Update on the new synthetic brush fibers I tried in a damp flue
They don't scrub creosote as well as the old boar bristle ones, and I had to go back over a job in Burlington twice. Has anyone found a good modern alternative that actually works?

Stick with the brush thing for a second. I get that new stoves are cleaner, but creosote is still creosote no matter how you burn it. A film might not look like much but that stuff is basically tar and it piles up fast if you burn any kind of wet wood or even just cool fires. People act like it's nothing until they're looking at a chimney fire on the news. I'm not saying panic every season, but writing it off completely feels like tempting fate over a few bucks for a cleaning.

Man, is creosote buildup even that big of a deal anymore? Modern wood stoves burn way cleaner than the old ones. I've seen chimneys that barely have a film after a whole season. Maybe you're just overthinking it because the new brush feels different.
