Blew a $200 insert on a Haas VF-2 because I trusted the previous setup without checking first

Found out last Wednesday the previous guy had the tool offset wrong by 0.015 inches, so my brand new carbide end mill exploded on the third pass and now I'm out both time and cash, has anyone else had to double check everything a coworker does just to keep from wasting money?

Man that sucks but 200 bucks on a single insert sounds like overkill for a VF-2 anyway lol. If you're running expensive tools you gotta be checking your offsets every time, even if it's just a quick jog over to verify. Live and learn I guess but blaming the other guy makes it sound worse than it is when you could've caught it in 30 seconds.

Three machines later and I'm still catching myself trusting someone else's setup before double-checking, it's like we all learn the hard way that saving 30 seconds costs way more than 30 bucks.
