Everyone keeps pushing the latest CAM software upgrades but my 15 year old Mastercam still runs circles around the new stuff in speed
At the last shop I worked at in Cleveland, the owner spent $12,000 on the newest CAM package with all the bells and whistles. Watched the programmer spend 3 hours messing with toolpath settings just to get a basic contour cut right. Meanwhile, I roughed out the same part in 45 minutes using old Mastercam. Newer doesn't always mean better for real production work. Has anyone else gone back to an older version after trying the upgrade?

Why pay for new software when you can just pay for the time to fight with it?
