Found a coolant trick at a shop in Detroit last month

Visited a small shop off 8 Mile. Old timer there used a turkey baster to clear chips from tight spots. Saved me buying a fancy air gun. Worked way better than I thought for $3. Anyone else got weird homemade tools they swear by?

Hold on, a turkey baster? Like the thing you use for Thanksgiving turkey? That's genius and also kind of ridiculous at the same time. I have to sit with that image for a second. My old man used a cut up plastic milk jug to catch oil drips once and it worked, but a turkey baster is next level. Definitely filing that one away in my brain for the next time I'm elbow deep in a tight spot.

And @fiona_clark that's exactly what it looked like too, just this greasy turkey baster sitting on the bench like it belonged there. Reminds me of this time I was trying to reach a bolt behind the starter on my old Ford and couldn't get a normal socket in there. Ended up taping a 10mm socket to a wooden paint stirrer stick with electrical tape. Worked just enough to break it loose but the tape started sliding after three turns. Had to redo it twice. Sometimes the cheap fix works until you really need it to work, you know?
