Old timer told me my finish passes were trash
Guy named Joe at the shop in Detroit watched me run a part and just said 'you're fighting the machine there'. He showed me how to bump the feed up 20% and drop the RPM by 500. Smoothest surface I ever got. Still use that exact setup on aluminum jobs now. Anyone else get a simple tip that fixed your whole approach?

What kind of feed and speed numbers you running on that setup now?

Hold up, are you running 12,000 RPM on a CAT 40 spindle with that 3/4" endmill in aluminum? @bethj44 that just sounds like a crash waiting to happen unless you have some seriously rigid fixturing and a beast of a machine. I usually stay around 8,000 RPM with .006 IPT on my Haas VF-2, and even then I get nervous about harmonics if I push it above .050" radial engagement. What toolholder are you using, shrink fit or hydraulic?
