Pro tip: a 0.001 inch runout on your chuck can scrap a whole batch before you catch it
I was reading the Haas operator manual during a slow Friday shift and saw that a couple thousandths of spindle runout can throw your tolerances off way more than you'd think. Pulled my chuck apart, cleaned the taper with a rag and some brake cleaner, and my finish pass on 6061 came out mirror smooth for the first time in months. Any of you guys check runout on a schedule or just wait till a part comes out ugly?
