Question about that old trick for stopping chatter with a zip tie

I thought my coworker was messing with me when he said to wrap one around the tool holder, but it actually worked on a stubborn 3/4 inch end mill in aluminum last Thursday. Anyone have a better fix for that high-pitched squeal?

That zip tie hack is a total band-aid fix for a real machine problem.

The factory manual for that model says to replace the entire tensioner assembly at 500 hours. A zip tie just masks the worn spring.

Totally, saw a buddy's engine grenade from that exact zip tie trick last season.
