Rant: A simple tool change on a Haas VF-2 turned into a three hour ordeal
I was swapping out a worn endmill for a new one yesterday, just a standard 3/8 inch four-flute. The tool holder wouldn't seat right in the spindle, kept giving me a pull stud error. I checked the stud, cleaned the taper, everything looked fine. Turns out a tiny, almost invisible burr on the new holder's flange was the culprit. Had to stone it down by hand for what felt like forever. Anyone else ever get hung up on something that simple for way too long?

Oh man, that "tiny, almost invisible burr" is the worst kind of problem. It's so small you feel crazy looking for it, but it causes a total shutdown. I've had similar stuff with fittings that won't seat because of a nearly invisible casting flaw. You check everything big twice before you even think to look for the little thing holding you up. What did you use to stone it down in the end?

Nah, I kinda like the hunt for that stuff... it's satisfying when you finally spot it. Just a cheap Arkansas stone from the hardware store did the trick.
