Rant: climb milling beats conventional on 6061 every time and I'm tired of arguing about it
Ran the same part 40 times in Tacoma with both methods and the climb side held 0.0005 on the finish cut while conventional tore up the edge and left chatter marks, so if you're still feeding the old way on aluminum tell me why and I'll listen.
Ran into the same thing on a batch of brackets last year and never went back to conventional on aluminum. The finish pass just cuts cleaner because the cutter is biting into solid material instead of rubbing first, and on 6061 that difference shows up fast on the edges. Only time I switch back is on roughing with a worn setup where the backlash gets sloppy.
