That old timer was right about chatter
Guy at the sharpening shop told me to drop my rpm from 12k to 8k and up my feed by 15 percent, took the vibration right out of my last stainless job, anyone else ever get advice that went totally against what you thought you knew?

But wouldn't that kind of change actually depend on what material you're running? Like, are you saying there's never a case where adjusting rpm and feed legitimately solves chatter?

I mean dropping rpm that much sounds like you're just masking a tool setup issue, not actually fixing the chatter.
