Used to eyeball my feeds and speeds with a scratched up notecard, now I plug everything into a spreadsheet I built after crashing a $400 toolholder last June.

Had a solid 3 years of guessing wrong or asking the old timer down the row, but that one wreck on a Saturday shift made me finally sit down and write out proper numbers, has anyone else had that moment where one mistake just clicked something permanent in your brain?

Threw a brand new one across the shop floor when it grabbed a finish pass wrong. Felt like I watched a weeks worth of profit shatter. @ellis.rose taught me to check runout on every holder before it touches a tool. Now I keep a tenths indicator right by the tool crib and check them before any critical job.
