Was dead set against using a 5th axis on our mill, now I'm a convert

I've been running a Haas VF-2 for like 6 years and always thought 5-axis was overkill for our shop. Last month my boss made me watch a demo from our local distributor in Cleveland where they ran a complex impeller in one setup. Seeing it cut cycle time from 3 hours to 45 minutes without any re-fixturing errors pretty much sold me. Anyone else have a stubborn change of heart on a tool or method they swore they'd never use?

Does that machine hold tolerance better through a full 5-axis move compared to just doing a 3+2 tilt and lock?

Honestly @cole_patel41, that depends more on the control and post than the machine itself. Full 5-axis moves add more variables like rotary backlash and thermal drift that 3+2 avoids by locking things down. You'll get better consistency with 3+2 for most jobs unless you really need the continuous tool-path.
