Working on a wooden puzzle box project (and I finally get why my mentor always stressed feed rate consistency).

Oh MAN does that hit home. I absolutely ruined a nice piece of maple last month because my feed rate got all wonky. The router bit just grabbed it and tore out this huge chunk right near the finish line. It's one of those things you don't fully get until you see a project get wrecked by it. That consistency is EVERYTHING for a clean cut. Such a hard lesson to learn the hard way.

@sarahj44, hearing about your maple mishap really hits close to home. That moment when the router bit grabs and tears out a chunk is just heartbreaking. Feed rate consistency seems simple until you lose it and ruin hours of work. Doesn't it feel like the tool knows when you're about to finish? Those hard lessons stick with you forever, even though they're frustrating to learn. Solidarity from someone who's been there too.
