I switched from watching video tutorials to just breaking my code on purpose, and it's not close
I spent two weeks watching Python tutorials on YouTube and could barely write a loop from scratch. Then I started taking working code and deleting random lines just to see what error I'd get, and after about 10 days of that I could actually debug my own stuff. Anyone else learn more from breaking things than from following along?
Did you ever try changing values instead of deleting lines? That helped me more at first because I could see what each piece actually did before breaking the whole thing. I did the same kind of thing with JavaScript, just poking at code until it fell over, and it stuck way better than any video. Watching someone else type never made it click for me either. The errors are annoying at first but eventually you start reading them like normal sentences instead of scary red text.
