Overheard a coding bootcamp grad say something that hit different

I was at a coffee shop yesterday (the one on 5th near the old library) and overheard this guy talking about how he learned to code in 12 weeks. He said his first job was just fixing bugs in legacy code and he felt like a fraud. That made me think about how I started back in 2006 when we had to buy those big PHP books and spend months just setting up a local server. The bootcamp route feels like a fast track but I wonder if people miss out on the struggle that taught me how to actually debug things. Has anyone else felt like the shortcut path leaves you with weird gaps in your knowledge?

Back in my day we learned to code by breaking things, not by watching someone else fix them.
