That's a great way to get started. I tried to learn some basic coding a few years back to make a simple website for my garden club. I gave up after two days because I couldn't even get the picture of my hydrangeas to show up right. This kid is already making a whole game. It makes me feel pretty behind the times.

My friend tried to code a page for his band and the only thing that showed up was a broken picture of a drum set. I get what you mean, @luna_craig58.

Let me play the other side of this. A 12 year old making a game about his dog sounds cute but in my experience kids that age barely have the attention span to finish a school project let alone a full game. Your mileage may vary but I've seen parents brag about their kid coding and six months later they're onto something else completely. Take this with a grain of salt but most of these "kid coder" stories end with a half finished project and a parent who spent money on classes. Maybe the real lesson here is that kids should be outside playing with actual dogs instead of coding virtual ones.
