Trying to learn JavaScript in a laundromat in Queens changed my whole approach

I was at this laundromat on 34th Ave in Queens waiting for my clothes, and I kept getting stuck on callback functions. This older guy next to me saw me frustrated and said 'just think of it like putting a coin in the machine, you wait for the cycle to finish before you grab your clothes.' That simple analogy made it click for me. Now I try to explain stuff with real world examples instead of just reading docs. Has anyone else had a random stranger help them understand a coding concept better than a tutorial?

34th Ave is a solid place for learning apparently.
