Unpopular opinion: I wasted $200 on a fancy coding bootcamp prep course

I dropped $200 last fall on some highly rated bootcamp prep course that promised to make me job-ready in 4 weeks. All it really gave me was a bunch of outdated Python exercises and a generic certificate. The instructor barely answered questions and I learned more from free YouTube tutorials in a week. Has anyone else thrown money at a course that just wasn't worth it?

Agree with you completely, that sounds like a total waste of money. I fell for a similar scam last year where the course materials were literally screenshots from old Stack Overflow threads you could find for free. The whole "prep course" industry feels like it's built on selling hope, not actual skills. What really got me was the lack of real support, the instructors were just reading from a script they probably didn't write themselves. Better off grabbing a used textbook and grinding through free coding challenges, at least you can ask the internet for help when you're stuck. These courses prey on people who are anxious about breaking into tech and want a shortcut.
